Album describes growing up during troubled 70s and 80s Belfast.

First US tour, favourable ‘Rolling Stone’ review.
1988 Second album ‘Kiss The Big Stone’ released (Decca) describing first explorations abroad – America and western Europe.
Support tour of UK with Clannad.
1989 Moves back from London to Northern Ireland. Writes third album based on experience of moving away from London and back to his roots.

Invited by Berlin Political Song Festival to represent Northern Ireland at first festival since fall of the Berlin Wall.

1992 ‘Out There’ released, depicting Andy’s travels in America and Eastern Europe. Wins Irish Times Album of the Year.
Andy wins Hot Press Songwriter Of The Year Award.
Plays Glastonbury Festival for the third time.
1993 Records version of ‘Religious Persuasion’ for the Peace Together album and concert with Sinead O’Connor.
1994 Release of ‘Destination Beautiful’
Album themes include becoming a father, and the changes already evident in post-Communist Europe.
Forms ALT with Tim Finn and Liam O Maonlai. Records album in Tim’s studio, Melbourne, Australia.
1995 ALT album ‘Altitude’ released by EMI, followed by world tour including appearances at Glastonbury Festival, London Fleadh, Lorelei Germany and WOMAD Australia.
Live ALT album recorded at the Continental Café, Melbourne and released on their own ALT Recordings label.
1996 Andy records new solo album produced by Simon Polinski (The Church, Yothu Yindi), Kim Fowley (The Byrds) and John Leckie (Pink Floyd, Radiohead).
‘Teenage’ marks a return to Cooking Vinyl and is seen as a return to his acoustic folk pop roots.
1997 Embarks on his most comprehensive touring schedule so far including a triumphant appearance on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
1998 Andy makes his first solo appearance at WOMAD, in Singapore.Winnipeg and Calgary Folk Festival bring him to Canada for the first of many tours.
National tour of USA supporting Mary Black.

Influential UK music magazine MOJO comments “…from rage to sage, it’s not too late to discover one of our best kept secrets”.
ALT reform to tour Japan in December.
1999 Lagan Press publish collection of Andy’s complete poetry and lyrics to date entitled ‘The Music Of What Happens’.
Cooking Vinyl reissue ‘Rave On Andy White’ and ‘Kiss The Big Stone’.
Andy plays WOMAD UK mainstage, also WOMAD USA and Edmonton Folk Festival, Canada.
Records live performance album – songs and poetry – in Real World Studios for Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD Select label
2000 WOMAD release ‘Speechless’ and book UK tour.
Andy writes ‘Coz I’m Free’ with Christine Anu for Cathy Freeman.
Christine Anu sings ‘Coz I’m Free’ at Sydney Paralympics closing ceremony.
2001 Writes first album of new material since ‘Teenage’ in Switzerland, and records the songs in Dublin with a group including members of Hothouse Flowers and David Gray’s band. The self-titled album is released on ALT Recordings label.
2002 Moves to Melbourne with his wife and son.
The ‘Andy White’ album reissued on UK independent label Floating World through Evangeline/Universal.
2003 Records new studio album with ALT engineer Simon Polinski.
‘Boy 40’ released on Floating World in Europe.
Plays WOMAD Australia for first time solo, and the inaugural WOMAD New Zealand at Mount Taranaki, New Zealand.
2004 ‘Boy 40’ released in Australia on the ALT Recordings label.The Age comments “You can follow the road leading through Andy White’s records. You can often see the stars, sometimes smell the incense, almost always feel a gentle but firm nudge towards spiritual transcendence. The magic of ordinary moments looms large on his new album ... in crystal-clear images. As a poetic document of one man’s journey, Boy 40 is a direct successor to Teenage, but with White’s sense of innocence tempered by new more worldly and adult concerns.”
2005 Extensive touring worldwide. Highlight is playing at WOMAD UK and musical directing the finale featuring the world music stars in front of 15,000 people.
Australian roots label Laughing Outlaw release rarities and B-sides collection ‘Rare’.
2006 Writes new solo album in Melbourne, and travels to Real World Studios where John Leckie produces the original recording session with Andy, Radoslav Lorkovic (piano, hammond), and Liam Bradley from Van Morrison’s band on drums.
Andy completes recording in Australia and returns to Italy where John mixes the album.
Canadian summer and Australian winter tour followed by plans to tour Europe in northern hemisphere autumn.
‘Garageband’ released October 30 on Floating World in Europe.
